Lambeth Teacher with Lambeth NUT

we're there when you need us!

School? YES

ARK? NO !

On 16th June, London NUT branches took the battle against Academies to ARK (Absolute return of Kids) who intend to open an Academy in Shakespeares Road, take over Islington Green School and take over a Brent school.

The lobby was attended by representatives of Islington, Camden, Lambeth, Brent, Waltham Forest, Hackney and parents from these boroughs and elsewhere. There were also two rather large moggies in attendance!

So concerned are the millionaires from ARK trustees that no one came to even speak to us and justify their case or even try to assure us that they had the children's interest at heart (which given they are primarily bankers, we'd find it hard to believe).

However, one thing is clear - we will take the fight to the academy sponsors - be they religious organisations, banks or carpet companies.
